| What do you get when you mix cosmetics and skin care with a hip, minimalistic and futuristic shopping experience? You get Aura Science! This is truly a beauty experience for makeup junkies! Aura Science is a new concept in beauty forged ahead by The Limited, Inc. (the folks responsible for fashionable stores such as The Limited, Express, & Victoria's Secret) and cosmetics giant, Shiseido! Aura Science opened its first store in the Washington, DC area, so we at Backstage Beauty were so excited to see what it was all about. Upon our first visit, the Aura Science Consultants asked us individually about our skin and any concerns that we were having at the time. Once the Aura Science Consultants finished assessing our skin, they filled out a card for us and proceeded to give us samples of products tailored for our individual skin types. Not only did they write everything down that we needed for our skin, they gave us a credit card sized Aura Science Card so it could be scanned each time we bought something. I asked if there would be in bonuses or promotions in the future and they said that it would be. Anyway, after perusing the store on our own, I was finally able to see what else Aura Science had to offer. Below is a breakdown of the skin care system (which is basic and quite easy to follow, by the way): Aura Science Skin Care is broken into four groups: Phase One (Dry) Phase Two (Normal/Dry), Phase Three (Normal/Oily) and Phase Four (Oily). Each piece of skin care products are quite reasonable in price compared to other upscale lines and you can basically get a great eye cream and a supplemental treatment for less that what you'd pay for at, say, a Nordstrom. Prices on skin care range from $12 - $25 depending on the product and for supplement treatments, like a hydrating mask, it would sell for roughly $25. I ended up buying the Phase Three Skin Care system and I bought a mask and an eye cream and I got 20% off of the eye cream, which sells for $30. By the way, if you like Shiseido's Eye Cream, the Aura Science one is just like it to me! In addition to the skin care, Aura Science offers an assorted mix of nail enamels ($8.50) and lipsticks, lipglosses, eye shadows, foundation, etc. You can also get nice chic cosmetics bags at a good price, too. Although, I spent most of my time looking at skin care, I managed to by a nail enamel in Champaigne. Beautiful and basic light beige for everyday wear. The nail enamels come in a cute, "Jetson" type of bottle, that's flat in dimension with a brown overcap. It fits in the palm of your hand like an egg. Right now, Aura Science is only available in malls in Ohio, Virginia, Illinois, New Jersey, Maryland. Stores are going to opening soon in other states soon. Run, don't walk when Aura Science comes to a town near you! |
